A day out to Wembley to watch West Ham play one of the most important games I have ever seen and make a short film of the events – well, life doesn’t get much better than this! A film that my son and I can share for years to come, of our day out to see West Ham beat Blackpool 2-1 in the nPower championship final on Saturday 19th May 2012.

The day started with the short hop down the Chiltern line to Wembley Stadium, followed by a wonder around the stadium and a stop by the legendary Bobby Moore statue. We went into the stadium and took our seats at 2pm and watched the stadium fill up and enjoyed the pre game activities. It was clear Blackpool fans were having a fun day out and were approaching it like a cup final while West Ham fans were nervous and approaching it like a relegation game decider. It did not stop us singing and making a continual noise from the first kick off to the final whistle. The dancing and singing at the end of the game was fantastic fun plus a fantastic rendition of “I’m for ever blowing bubbles”.

Most of my footage was of the singing and dancing from all the other West Ham fans and some long shots of the game. My favourite shot was of the cheer when the final whistle went with a fast pan to my son who was equally excited. I edited the goals and some on pitch scenes from my Humax recorder which created a more complete film. I added some music from my friends “The Hepburns” off the album “Champagne Reception” and the track “Llan Pop” to overlay on the introduction and end credits.

Definitely a A Tê to remember!
